What Happened to Your Dreams?

A long time ago, when you were full of vigor, you had a lot of dreams. You dreamt of big and grandiose things, of being rich and famous, of going places, of having your name as well-known as your favorite pretzels; of conquering the world.
What happened to your dreams?
"Well," you might say, "they have gone the way most youthful dreams go - buried and forgotten."
Yes, years and adulthood have a way of transforming our youthful idealisms and fantasies into realities that we are often not prepared to handle, of making life so overwhelming we can hardly keep our noses above water.
When we become adults, our dreams give way to new priorities, new responsibilities, different set of problems and concerns, of starting a family and many more. We get out from the comfortable life-support from parents and begin to live our own lives, earn our own keep and lay down the blueprint for the future.
It is the time, supposedly, when we ask ourselves the question, "What will I do with my life?"
As simple and straightforward this may be, a lot of young people, rather than meet it head on, skirt around it or avoid it altogether for two reasons:
First: They don't take life too seriously until later when it is already too late;
Second: They think it is self-indulgence to be so engrossed with self or career.
Consequently, they miss the opportunity of laying down the foundations of a happy, successful and meaningful life. Not only have they abandoned their youthful dreams, they have succumbed to the allure of things that are within reach and easy for the taking. They embrace the fast food mentality.
There are so many young people these days toiling at jobs they hate. Too many smart, educated and talented young people working at half their potential at jobs they are just tolerating, not loving. They have put their dreams on hold in exchange for more money, a bigger house, a fancy car, private schools for the children, and many other worldly things that are not relevant to what a happy and successful life is.
This is rather tragic because we currently live in a world full of choices. We need not tolerate jobs we hate. We can choose careers that can both satisfy our material needs and our core values, our dreams. All you need to do is decide what to devote your life on and then pursue it.
But making that decision is impossible if you avoid confronting the fundamental question of "What will I do with my life?"
The answer to that question is best expressed by Card Sandberg who said,
"Nothing happens unless first a dream."
To know what to do with your life, you must get out of your shell of complacency and confront your fears. Get to know yourself, your values, the things you love to do, and your strengths and weaknesses. Then decide on pursuing them until you have them in your hands to see, to touch, to feel, to be proud of and be exceedingly joyful with.
You have to dream dreams again.
Real success can only be achieved by unleashing your productive, creative and focused energy from within at something you love doing.
Doing something you love doing is liberating because it rids you of the burden of doing something with no relevance to your values, your dreams, on what you deem important. It removes the dreariness of life, replacing it with vigor and enthusiasm knowing that at the end of the day, you have lived a meaningful life.
A lot of people are scared of living out their dreams for fear of not being able to live in abundance; to perpetually try to make both ends meet. They take living out their dreams as a form of self-denial. But a meaningful life is not of abundance but of living within your means. It is not wishing what others have but to be content with what you have, or to keep on reaching for things too far out to reach but to slowly and steadfastly gather those you easily can.
This is not coping out on life. Living out your dreams is to pursue happiness and success based on your core values, your inborn talent and your innate skills. It is pushing yourself to the limit on things you love to do, not of what others want you to do. It is being YOU.
Again, this may sound too far out or radical. But people always gravitate to what they desire most in life - happiness and success. Soon, you will want to get out of the prison you unwittingly put yourself into. You will look for ways to break out, to be free.
Do it now while you can.

How to Overcome Challenges

Throughout our lives we face challenges in many types of situations. Do you sometimes freeze up when faced with obstacles because you’re unsure
of what to do? If so, opportunities may pass you by because your resolve to meet the challenge quickly disappears.

However, the good news is: you can pass any test you face on the way to your goals!
Opportunities that once passed you by can be turned into stepping stones on your way to victory. Once you add a few simple strategies to your arsenal, you’ll be unstoppable on your path to success.

Even big challenges can be surpassed with a few simple techniques. Overcoming these challenges will spur you on and encourage you to live the life you were born to live. Instead of feeling fear, you’ll feel confident when you approach these roadblocks.

It’s okay to feel fear, as long as you allow that fear to propel you forward. The truth is, anything worth having comes with some setbacks along the way and obstacles to overcome. Your willingness to face these challenges head on will determine the level of success you achieve in your life.

The strategies you learn here can help you every single day. If you take advantage of these techniques, you’ll discover within yourself a much stronger person capable of anything.
Everyone suffers from fear from time to time. Some use the fear as an excuse to give up, and others use that fear to motivate themselves to achieve their dreams. The choice is yours.

Your Life Can Only Get Better When You Get Better

If you change your thoughts, you can change your life.
What do you spend your waking time thinking about? Do you think of ways to improve and get better or do you think of all the reasons why it won't work? Or do you think about it as someone else's responsibility?
Thoughts to Get Started On:
1. Change the way you think about things. Think like a winner.
2. Imagination is the key to creating that new life and that new reality that you want. Use your God-given imagination.
Fact on how the human brain works: Whatever you can imagine and dream about, you can develop the abilities and talents to make that a reality through discipline.
3. Let go of the past and move on. So many of us are living in the past that we can never enjoy the present through anger, fear, doubt, and unforgiveness.
4. All you need to live the life you want, to achieve and have the things you like to have, and to change your life the way you want it to change is already inside of you right now. You just have to learn how to tap into it, how to develop it and bring it out.
God blessed all of us with talents and gifts that we haven't really fully utilized or many times we don't even understand that we have them.
Two exciting words for me are: Beginning and Becoming.
You can make a decision to have a new beginning. Life becomes exciting. Tomorrow is a fresh new day to be the man or woman that you are meant to be. Then, start becoming to be the person you want to be.
There are some pitfalls:
1. Fear of Change - Your success is directly related to your ability to handle uncertainty. The greater uncertainty you can handle, the greater your success can be.
2. Stop Growing - Learn to compete with yourself not with others. Complete and not compete with others.
3. Loss of Self-Belief - We stop believing that it's possible for us to make things happen. It takes time, discipline, energy and support.
"How do I get better?"
If you are going to be successful in creating the life of your dreams, you have to BELIEVE that you are capable of making it happen.
Belief is a major concept. Belief becomes fact. Whatever you believe to be true is true.
Believe in yourself - that deep-seated belief that you have what it takes.
Believing in yourself is a choice. It makes no difference where you are or what is happening to you. It's an attitude that you develop over time.
You must choose to believe that you can do whatever you set your mind to; anything at all because in fact, YOU CAN.
From the latest brain research, you can learn almost anything if you have:
1. Proper training
2. Coaching - have someone to hold you accountable.
3. Practice - it's up to you to take action.
One thing you have to learn to give up is using the words "I CAN'T". It disempowers and weakens you.
3 Things You Must Have to Be Able to Change for the Better:
1. Willingness to learn.
2. Teachable spirit.
3. Open mind.
Change your Belief System.
Change your attitude - not a positive attitude because it is difficult to be positive 365 days a year 24 hours a day but have a winning attitude.
Confidence-Building Strategies:
1. Everyday remind yourself that you can do it.
2. Read inspiring biographies. Read about people who have done what you want to do.
3. Be thankful and grateful.
4. Build excellent support. Have people around you that encourage you and challenge you.
5. Push yourself to reach your short-term goals.
"Future intentions determine present actions."
4 Principles in Developing Relationship (with yourself):
1. Everyone can be motivated in some way.
2. People do things for their reasons not yours.
3. Overextension of a strength becomes a weakness. Take time to relax, reflect, recharge and refresh.
4. You do not motivate people; you create an environment where they can be self-motivated.
Successful people know they must compete with themselves not with others.
Make today a little bit better than yesterday; make tomorrow a little bit better than today.
Personal growth
You will never outgrow the limits you place on yourself.
Why is it that some people are able to achieve so much more out of their lives than others?
Why are some people able to produce such outstanding even extraordinary results?
Is it because they have a lot more talent?
What they have is STRONG BELIEFS.
This gives them extraordinary strengths to fight on against all odds and win.
Your belief defines your expectation.
If you believe that ___________________ then that is what you will expect from yourself.
If you believe that something is impossible that it cannot be done, will you take action? The answer is NO.
Medical science has proven the human mind cannot tell the difference between actual experience and what is vividly imagined.
Whatever we choose to believe becomes true for us.
Let this be your moment of change.
This is just one of the lessons that you will learn from my home-study program called 7 Weeks to a Better You. It consists of 7 life-changing principles with steps and tools that you can apply straight away in different areas of your life. For more info, go to http://www.7weekstoabetteryou.com.

Fail, Fail, Fail, Next Stop Is Success!!

I know it's becoming a cliche but This DID CHANGE MY LIFE at least it changed my business life, my thinking has been turned upside down, I am in network marketing and the biggest fear for me was rejection which leads to "stinkin thinkin" and hardening of the attitudes if you let it before you do let fear control your life read the book and listen to the CD's I am talking about.

http://tiny.cc/1izcuw

Let me explain why my thinking changed, I attended a seminar with my network marketing company and it was the usual day entertaining, exciting changes, full of energy and a guest speaker, ok nothing new here we have brought some great speakers to the UK such as Darren Hardy and Chris Gardner which were both superb but this year we had Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz, I must confess I had never heard of them before and if you haven't they are the authors of Go For No and I cannot recommend them enough if you are in business, experienced or new or maybe thinking of starting a new venture let Richard and Andrea guide you to financial freedom and I know that is a big statement, I wish I had heard of them years ago then I would have a bigger bank statement!

Richard and Andrea are a married couple that have enjoyed laughing in the face of fear and failing on their way to the top, Richard was in sales and very good at it but there was something missing he didn't like the word NO but who does?
As he was talking it hit me like a tonne of bricks the only difference between successful people and failures is that the successful ones didn't give up and that failures thought that when they fail they think that they have hit the end of the road.

http://tiny.cc/1izcuw

Failure is an event not a person and when we fail we simply keep going, success is on the same path as failure it's not back the other way, we have to adopt the ant philosophy when ants hit obstacles they look to go over them, under them or around them and never turn around or give up ants are not problem concious they are solution concious, we have to be the same but the sad thing is we ALL start off not fearing rejection from the moment we can talk as a small child, when you were a small child and you asked for something off your parents and they said NO how much notice did we take of them?
Can I have a biscuit? No would cry your mother or father then what would happen? did we give up at this point? We would ask again pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease No would be the reply, pretty please, No would come the answer again, pretty please with a cherry on top, Oh for god's sake just have a biscuit.

So what happened to us as we grew up and where did the fear of rejection come from? somehow we are all programmed to think that failing is bad, I can't explain it but Richard and Andrea can so let them and check out Go For No now right now.

Fear Doesn't Have To Be Frightening!

There are as many fears as there are people in the world. Fear of flying, fear of cats, fear of dogs. There's even a fear of Styrofoam! Fear is an emotion which discourages, hinders or stops us from living victorious lives!
That is it's only purpose. All fears wear masks. Fear doesn't want us to see its true face. If we did then it would cease to exist. Please do not confuse fear with common sense. Common sense is attained through learning. Each day we learn through trial and error.
Common sense acts like a trigger on a gun to protect us from harm.
What I am speaking of is fear of the unknown. It's a small inner voice that whispers, "what if you fail? What if you don't succeed? What if your families expectations aren't met? What if he or she isn't the right one after all?" What if? You get the picture.
Our biggest fear is failure. It's linked to embarrassment, incompetence, feelings of inferiority and inadequacy.
The opposite of fear is confidence, a feeling of accomplishment and the realization that you are enough. Fear loves to hide in our subconscious. Left to its own devices, it can build an impregnable force in our lives. Like a professional thief it steals our hopes and dreams. Fear robs us of our health, possible relationships and new experiences.
All because we fail to answer the simple question, what if? The remedy is simple. Answer the question! For example. New business ideas fail everyday, but in order to succeed we must fail! Failure is just a test of our ability to get back up again! It's the stepping stone to all learning! Below is an example of one man's desire to succeed:
>Failed in business at age 31.
>Defeated in Legislative race at age 32.
>Failed again in business at age 34.
>Overcame death of sweetheart at age 35.
>Had a nervous breakdown at age 36.
>Lost an election at age 38.
>Lost Congressional race at ages 43,46,48.
>Lost Senatorial race at age 55.
>Failed to become Vice President at age 56.
>Lost Senatorial race at age 58.
>Elected President of the United States at age 60.
This man was Abraham Lincoln. This is proof that the fear of failure is simply learning!
He realized that trying anything produces a result or outcome, not a failure. What happened when you first road a bicycle? Did you fall? I did many times! Did you say to yourself, that is the last time I'm riding a bicycle? Of course you didn't. Like protein is the building block of muscle, so failure is the main ingredient to any new task we undertake. It's a requirement for success! Expect failure to visit your marriage, business, playing a new instrument or anything that requires a heart investment. Don't set out to fail. Rather ask questions, seek advice and answer the what if's of your life! Your success is closer than you think!

10 Things You Can Do NOW To Be A Better You!

1. Stop the negative self- talk
Your thoughts become your reality, so start to become aware of the inner chatter and consciously stop flooding your mind with dis-empowering thoughts. Make it your mission to catch yourself out in the act and replace negative self-talk with an empowering affirmation to snap yourself out of that bad habit.
2. Clear the fear
Set out to do something that scares you. There's no better way to feel empowered than feeling the fear and doing it anyway! Make fear your motivator rather than your immobiliser. Fear extinction will not only feel stronger but this help you grow both mentally and emotionally by creating a positive response that will help you to continue to counteracts future fear responses.
3. Pick a mantra
Having your own empowering mantra is a great way to power-up, keep focused, ease anxiety and calm the mind. Choose an affirmation or phrase that has special meaning for you by thinking of a problem that you often face and developing a statement that reverses that problem. Your mantra can be spoken silently or out loud and is a great way to develop a positive mindset.
4. Offload baggage
Negative feelings only serve to weigh you down. Make peace with someone you have had a fall out with. Get things off your chest, take any lessons learnt and let go. If you can't do it in person, then write a letter about your feelings and wither send it or store it somewhere. By releasing negative feelings you are healing yourself by clearing energetic and emotional blockages that may be keeping you stuck.
5. Spend one minute in silence
Sitting in silence for even one minute can heal, relax, and reconnect you to your inner self. We are all so busy trying to stay uber-connected with the world that we forget the most important thing is to remain connected to ourselves. Enrich your life by harnessing the power of silence for at least 1 minute a day and you will start to experience the subtle things you normally miss.
6. Eat yourself happy
Examine what you put in your mouth and how it affects you emotionally, mentally and physically. Food has been proven to be linked to happiness. According to food psychologists, the top five mood-enhancing foods are asparagus, bananas, sunflower seeds, pork and brown basmati rice. Aim to cut out at least 2 junk food items and replace them with healthier choices. Once you start feeling more energetic you will be motivated to change your eating habits for good!
7. Don't compare
Snap out of the bad habit of comparing yourself to others. Comparing yourself is a useless exercise that only serves to feed insecurity and feelings of inadequacy- or on the other extreme feeling of pride and arrogance. Keep yourself in check and find your own authentic inner power by ceasing to look for re-assurance and validation outside of yourself.
8. Laugh till it hurts
Let loose and laugh from the core of your heart because it's good for your health! Laughing not only floods your body with all sorts of feel-good chemicals, it also boosts circulation, your immune system and helps more oxygen be delivered to your cells. Make it a regular routine to catch up with friends you can share a laugh with, go watch a comedy show or rent some funny DVD's.
9. Be grateful for something every day
Adopt an attitude of gratitude. Think of something that you are thankful for every day, from the laughter you share with friends, to the food on your table or the ability to breathe effortlessly every moment and be alive! You will start to sleep better, feel better, exercise more and develop certain contentment in life that eradicates stress and contributes to overall health.
10. Have Faith
Remind yourself that everything will be OK. All problems have a solution. As things move and change, have Faith that everything happens for a reason and to help you learn and grow. God is working things out. If you hold firm belief that things will turn out for the best, they most likely will.

Why You Won't Always Achieve Your Goals And Why That Is A Good Thing

No-one can guarantee that if you follow all the steps for setting and achieving goals that you will always achieve them. To have you believe so is dishonest. There are some goals that you really want with all your heart that you may never achieve. Why?
Reasons Why You Won't Achieve Some Goals
There are lots of reasons why people I have worked with have not achieved their goals, but these are the most common:
  • It wasn't aligned with your values, so your heart wasn't really in it. In this case you would have struggled right from the start to find the energy and the motivation required to be successful with this goal.

  • On your way to achieving your goal you became a different person and the original goal was no longer appropriate for the person you are now.

  • If you have a lot invested in achieving the goal, you might find that your fear of not getting it is receiving more energy than achieving the goal. What we focus upon in our lives is what we tend to attract into our lives. Where you have a lot of emotion attached to a goal, you may find that what you attract into your life is more of that emotion rather than the outcome you are seeking. This is because the greatest portion of your focus is upon the emotion (usually fear that you won't achieve your goal) rather than upon the goal itself. If this happens, remove the emotional attachment to the outcome by sitting and planning for the girl and then in a non-emotional way follow the steps to achieve it. You must believe that you have done and are doing all you can to achieve the goal and know that worrying will just hold it back.

  • When you think things are not going your way, let go of your idea of how they should go. You may be surprised at the unusual ways in which your desires are ultimately fulfilled. Sometimes we try to force goals to be achieved in timelines that are too tight for us. It can take a while to build this foundation for some goals. Be kind to yourself during this period.

  • It would not serve you to achieve the goal. Sometimes your greatest gifts may come from unanswered desires. I remember having my heart broken as a teenager when my boyfriend started going out with someone else. Every night I prayed and focused upon us staying together, but it didn't happen. It wasn't until years later I realized that if our relationship had succeeded, I wouldn't have become the person that I am. In the failure of one of my greatest desires lay the possibility for me to become something else.

  • Something even better is coming or has come to you instead.

  • You are attempting to consciously overcome an unconscious habit. In this case you will need to examine what you do at an unconscious level so you have an awareness of the steps you will need to take to combat the 'trigger' that is giving rise to the habit.

  • You have been practicing procrastination. Many of us do. The best way to overcome procrastination is to focus upon the outcome and the benefits you will receive from it and then take action.

  • Your fear (usually of failing) is so great that you don't take the necessary steps to achieve your goal. The only way to overcome fear is to meet it head on and move through it. If you don't, then the fear wins and your inactivity guarantees your failure.
In Summary
There are some goals it is best we never achieve as it would not be in our best interests to do so. For those ones, we smile and move on with our lives. There are other goals where we are using unhelpful strategies in our attempt to achieve them. We can be successful with these goals if we change our strategies.

'Reasoning' Our Way to Mediocrity

A great opportunity comes our way BUT we don't have the time available to take advantage of it... OR... the money... OR... the expertise... OR... we're lacking the support from home we feel we'd need... OR... we'd have to move... OR... the dog's been sick and needs us... OR...
You get the picture. There are never a shortage of Reasons for not doing something. Perhaps we're afraid of trying something new or we're afraid of failing. Regardless of the reasons our conditioned mind created for us, the source typically stems from an underlying fear.
Fear of failure
Fear of change
Fear of loss
Fear of alienation
Fear of risk...
The fear creates Reasons as to why we should not consider or attempt something new. Our reasons sound realistic. Our reasons sound true. Our reasons sound logical. They serve one main purpose though, they keep us in our comfort zone. Ultimately, staying in that zone is comfortable and easy, but it prevents us from learning, growing and expanding.
The bottom line, of course, is that if we are not learning and growing we become firmly entrenched in mediocrity. We will be 'okay' but we will not be living an 'amazing' life. Consider that you are 100 years old, looking back on your life. How would you prefer to be describing the life you've lived? Okay... or Amazing? And yet, most people are living their lives hoping for amazing but only doing enough to maintain their current level of 'okay'.
If you find yourself always giving in, without question, to all of the Reasons for not doing or attempting something new, you are choosing the status quo. You are choosing to remain firmly within your comfort zone. Unfortunately, all of the reasons for not doing something won't get you there, only action will. Therefore, you can have Reasons for not choosing action OR you can have the Results gained by pushing through your discomfort and taking action.
Sometimes our reasons are justified, but all too often they are simply a knee-jerk reaction of our brain to the thought of change. If you don't start challenging all of the reasons your brain gives you for not doing something, then you are going to find yourself stuck in the rut of mediocrity. There is no true change without discomfort. Get uncomfortable to make things begin to happen.
When next you find yourself confronted by a list of reasons for not taking action, tell yourself...
I can have Reasons, or I can have Results
And then ask yourself...
What Results are these Reasons keeping me from achieving?
If you are unwilling to let that result go, then you need to see those reasons for what they are - Excuses - and push on through. Few people looking back on their life are satisfied with all of the reasons for not having lived the life they desired. Instead, we are satisfied and gratified to look back and see that we took some chances, pushed and challenged ourselves and lived a life of our choosing. What do you want to look back and see?

What Does Fear Bring to People?

Fear can cause the downfall of people who want to become successful. One thing is sure and that is the feeling of apprehension cannot motivate anybody. On the contrary, it can have the most negative effects on human beings. No one can rationalize the impact of fear. For as long as you exist, it will be difficult to understand this notion. Individuals, who live through fear, are far from being levelheaded. In fact, your tendency is to disappear or flee if you are afraid of something or someone. Fear can paralyze anyone.
Unfortunately, fear has very adverse effects. It can suppress your logic and positive accomplishments. This feeling reinforces uncertainty which brings about personal decline. There are many people oozing with capabilities who became victims of anxiety. This wears down self-assurance and can result to failure. Fear can compel you to embrace detrimental practices just to cover up suffering and premonition.
Moreover, fear disrupts peace of mind and satisfaction so your life becomes focused on misery. Once you are overcome with trepidation, the tendency is to develop into a lethargic and unsocial person. Your energy will start to decrease causing you to shun other people and avoid productive undertakings. In the end, fear will give rise to mistrust and make you more unstable emotionally and physically.
This is a difficult situation but solutions are possible. It is not beneficial to disregard your fears because these will just lead to more blunders. The key is to deal with the roots and not just the symptoms. It will take you time to do this but this is possible. It is imperative to espouse truth consistently so that the abnormal patterns in fear will be exposed. Life will absolutely become devoid of fear and simple as unswerving sincerity takes the place of dreadful mind designs. It is easy to achieve your goals if you stop being afraid of things and thoughts. When you start to live and think without fear, there will be no more need for conflicts between people and nations. Harassment, injustice, hatred and diseases can be reduced or prevented. Thus, people will be more prudent and work for change. Fear can be erased from your mind gradually. This is the challenge for all humans. This is the time to go into the actual solutions and try to drive down fear if not totally eliminate it. Now is the time to do this task.
